Rehearsal Schedule

Typically the band practices on Tuesday evening 7:30 to 9:00 pm at the Talawanda Middle School.  If you are interested in joining the band, submit the contact form and someone from the band will be in touch with you as soon as possible

About the Band

Founded in 1987, the Oxford Community Band (OCB) is an ensemble of individuals from throughout southwestern Ohio and the surrounding area who share a passion for making music.
Comprised of musicians from all walks of life and of all ages and experiences, the OCB pride itself on welcoming all members, regardless of ability, to perform a wide variety of music at venues in and around Oxford, Ohio.

About the Director

Dr. Brian Meyers is an assistant professor of music at Miami University, where he specializes in instrumental music education. He joined the Oxford Community Band as a performer in 2018. Prior to this, Dr. Meyers was an assistant professor of music at Adelphi University on Long Island, New York, where he also directed the concert band. Dr. Meyers also spent 13 years as a public school music educator in Ohio and Arizona, primarily at the high school level. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, where he studied with educator and composer James Swearingen, and a Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Arizona State University. Dr. Meyers is also a music education researcher and has presented his work at national and international conferences as well as in various books and music education journals. He currently serves as associate editor of Contributions to Music Education, a nationally-recognized research journal published by the Ohio Music Education Association.
